Biography
Originally from the Chicago area, Dr. Petersen studied biochemistry and religion at Augustana College. He completed his MD and PhD at Yale; his graduate work investigated mechanisms of lipid-induced hepatic insulin resistance. He completed his internal medicine residency in the physician-scientist pathway at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Petersen then completed fellowship training in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Lipid Research at Washington University in St. Louis, mentored by Samuel Klein, MD. He joined the faculty in July 2023.
