ASMB President-Elect, Dr. Jeffrey Miner, Announces Biennial Meeting will be Held in St. Louis in September 2021

Jeffrey Miner, PhD, FASN, Eduardo and Judith Slatopolsky Professor of Medicine in Nephrology at Washington University, is pleased to announce that the biennial meeting of the American Society for Matrix Biology (ASMB) will be held in person from September 12-15, 2021, at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch.  The meeting was postponed last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Jeffrey Miner
Jeffrey Miner, PhD, President-elect of ASMB, will chair the society’s biennial meeting in St. Louis, MO.

As President-elect of the ASMB through 2021, Miner will chair the 2021 meeting.  The ASMB promotes basic, translational, and clinical research on the extracellular matrix (ECM), cell-ECM interactions, and ECM-based therapies and devices.

Registration and abstract submission for the meeting are now open.  The early registration discount and abstract deadline is July 16, 2021.  There will also be a virtual component for those unable to attend.

“When we decided to move forward with an in-person meeting back in late March, there were still many questions about whether a critical mass of attendees would travel to St. Louis,” says Miner.  “But given the effectiveness of the vaccines and the rapid decline in cases, the ASMB leadership is very optimistic that it will be a well-attended and highly successful meeting, and probably the first live conference since 2019 for most attendees.”

Miner is an internationally recognized expert on Alport Syndrome and defects in the kidney’s glomerular basement membrane and is Director of Basic Research for WashU Nephrology.
