Clay Dunagan, MD, MS acknowledged by Becker’s 2022 list of people to know

Congratulations to Dr. Clay Dunagan, BJC HealthCare Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer! Dr. Dunagan has been named to Becker’s “88 chief medical officers of hospitals and health systems to know” 2022 list.

Chief medical officers are the link between physicians and administrators at hospitals across the U.S. They bring an important clinical perspective to the hospital’s decision-makers, and their role has grown over the last two years during the pandemic.

Becker’s Healthcare provide readers the cutting-edge business information and news to help hospitals and surgery centers thrive in the ever-changing healthcare landscape. Their most recent list features chief medical officers and the top physicians and surgeons for hospitals and health systems in the U.S. The executives featured oversee large teams of physicians and achieved success with quality and patient safety. Many of the chief medical officers are also an integral part of transitioning to value-based care and improving the patient experience.

Dr. Dunagan works closely with the health system’s affiliated clinicians and Washington University Physicians on the development of comprehensive, evidence-based approaches to care. He directs the BJC Center for Clinical Excellence and is a national speaker on quality assessment and improvement.

Dr. Dunagan serves as co-chair with Dr. Alex Garza, chief community health officer  at SSM Health, of the St. Louis Metropolitan Pandemic Task Force, a collaboration between the area’s largest health care systems, working together to prepare for surge of patients, provide the best possible care and keep the community updated on COVID-19 and its subvariants.
