Department of Medicine holds annual new faculty orientation

The Department of Medicine welcomed new faculty on Tuesday, August 23 with an institutional resource fair followed by an orientation session. Sponsored by the Office of Faculty Development, over 40 attendees enjoyed presentations covering topics such as career development and diversity, equity, and inclusion to the clinical, educational, and research landscape across the School of Medicine and within the Department of Medicine.

Left to right: Angela Brown, MD, Thomas Ciesielski, MD and Milan Andakat, MD were all featured presenters during new faculty orientation. Brown presented on diversity, equity and inclusion; Ciesielski spoke on DOM clinical operations and updates, and Anadkat provided an overview on the DOM Office of Faculty Development and appointments and promotions within the department.

Presentations were preceded by an informal resource fair featuring booths from several School of Medicine and Department of Medicine organizations. New faculty had the opportunity to browse and ask questions of representatives from the Bernard Becker Medical Library, the Clinical Research Training Center, the Forum for Women in Medicine (FWIM), the Institute of Clinical and Translational Sciences (ICTS), the Institute for Informatics, Mentorship to Enhance Diversity in Academia (MEDA), and Siteman Cancer Center.
