Feng Chen, PhD, Associate Professor of Medicine, Nephrology, has been awarded a five-year, $2.36M GUDMAP grant titled “Creating High-resolution Multi-omics Molecular Atlases for Developing Urogenital Organs.”
The GenitoUrinary Development Molecular Anatomy Project – GUDMAP – provides data and tools that facilitate research on the genitourinary tract for the scientific and medical community.
“Our goal is to characterize developing urogenital organs and to build spatially resolved high complexity molecular atlases for these structures,” says Dr. Chen. The project (#U01DK131380), funded 9/2021 through 8/2026, is one of five institutes in the current round of GUDMAP funding (Phase 4). The grants are supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK).
The Chen laboratory is also part of the newly established Washington University Senescence Tissue Mapping Center (WU-SN-TMC) that is collaborating with NIH’s Cellular Senescence Network (SenNet) to study cell senescence and its role in the diseases of aging (see article here).
